Inspirations for Decorating Your Student House

To be or not to be, that is the question?

We are in Southampton, England.

If you are finishing High School and you will go to University you will leave your parent’s house. Then you have to prepare yourself to do everything alone. NO mommy to help you. Take your things and start a new level in your life. But, wait! did you take all you need? Do you know where you are going to stay? Most Southampton students can go to the University Dorm but a lot of students go to the student’s houses. Student’s houses are homes that more than one student can share the entire house, but your bedroom is your own space. In this kind of home most times, you have the furniture and home appliances. You should take only your stuff, like clothes, shoes, school supplies, and household linens. When you think in English style you think about houses full of decoration and classical appearance. But you are a student and not always you will like this kind of thing. Then how can you organize your student house in Southampton mixing two styles putting together your young style with a pinch of old times? In this article, you will see some tips for your own decoration. Make the new place yours.

 

1.    Less is more

Take care the space that you will use is little then you don't want to put your blanket on the floor do you? When you are decorating your bedroom take care of the number of stuff you bring. Sometimes your bedroom is not too big and most student houses in Southampton have household linens. Then you can bring some pillows and a one-bed cover that you like most. And remember you are alone. All of your clothes and households are your job to wash. And you don’t want to stay at home all your Sunday washing and folding your clothes, do you?

 

 

2.    The wall

Some Studyhomes are like a prison or hospitals, white. This is the basic color for everything. Then how can you solve this? But remember you can paint without asking for the Landlord. Then how can you solve this? It’s easy, you don’t need to change the color you need only some stuff to decorate and make the walls like you. Take some  Photos of you and your friends and family, a string, and a clothespin. choose a part on the wall that you don’t mess with and glue the end of the string and go to another side. Repeat the process in that part you choose. after that you take the pictures and hold them with a clothespin, the distance between the pictures must be 3cm. Leave your imagination run, you can use it to hold pictures, notes, souvenirs. Another option is to hold some stuff like the dream catcher. A fake window can bring a Spring sensation to your bedroom. You will need only a curtain and a Photoframe of a fake window, Hold the curtain on the ceiling, glue the image on the center of the curtain, open the curtain, and hold only to show the fake window.

 

3.    Add plants.

An accommodation stays more flowing when you add some pieces of natural green. Then in the bathroom, you can take some Succulents on the sink or where you use to leave your stuff. Or you can put it on the window.  In the living room, you can add in the corner plants that don’t need the sun, like snake plant Luarentti, Dracaena gold star, Rubber tree, and others. In the kitchen, you can add some aloe vera, and some culinary plants like Basil, Rosemary, Parsley, and others. You can find a bunch of plants to leave inside your home, even in the winter. A Southampton student has a stressful life. Don’t forget, if you want to discharge your stressful student life,  buy a “bonsai”. It will help you to leave your brain empty.

 

4.    Lamp. Chandelier. Lighting.

A lamp can make your space warmer, like your parent’s home. Try to add in your rooms. In the living room some lighting, bedside lamp in your bedroom. You can try to make some of them by yourself. Bring one from your home and use your creativity.

 

5.    Study Desk

All students must have a table where they will study for hours. What do you think to take some stuff in organizing your desk? Bring all the supplies you need next to you. You can make a background with strings in front of you when you are sitting at your desk. If your desk is an island together with your roommates, you can find a frame and do the same thing I’ve said on the wall.

 

6.    Hangers

Most halls in the student house in Southampton have a place to hang up your coats, But you can put a different standing hanger where you can leave your jackets, hats, coats, and shoes.  You can find in the stores a lot of types of Keys hooks or hangers. Choose one and hang it up on the wall. You will discover a lot of types like a key, a car, and several models. Or do it yourself one. You will need a piece of wood, hookers, and a drill. For your room, you can buy some hangers to put your clothes and your belts on. Take some clothespins to hang little things like scarves or necklaces.

 

7.    Old and New

Southampton is an old city, a lot of Studyhome have classic stuff. What about you mix the old with the new one. Let’s start in your living room. Buy a paper wall that imitates a brick wall, and then you can leave in from of this wall your new styles sofa, or hang up on this wall some frames about technology things. Or hang up in this wall some neon lights. Use your creativity to decorate this wall. Add on it a  chalkboard frame to write your notes.

 

8.    Coffee and stuff

If the house doesn’t give you home appliances you have to buy them. Do you remember to mix old England with the nowadays times? Then you can buy some colorful appliances to leave on the kitchen counter. You can buy some old teacup and leave it on the table with a Teapot.

 

9.    Sofa and Pillows

To turn your student house into a real home you can bring your pillows and blankets. A fluffy carpet for the cold days. Giving your own touch to this house, try to bring sofa covers. You can organize a carpet and pillows next to the corner to lay down and read your books. Or buy a hanging chair. And enjoy it.

 

10.  Books, notebooks, and post its

A Studyhome is not a student house without books; doesn’t it? Then try to bring your book and leave it on the center table. If you have a plant on this table you can put the plant o the books. Take a paper chalkboard and put it on the wall to leave your notes. Or make a frame to leave your notes with post-its.

 

Don’t forget you will stay in this home for a year or until you finish your graduation. Then try to bring all the stuff you need and are useful. Don’t bring things that you don’t use. Students’ houses don’t have so much space to bring your home together. Just kidding!
