A lot of people think that "gap year" is to you take a rest and don't do anything. The main thing for a gap year is you don't do what you doing every day. For example, you are studying engineering, and for you take this break you can do some different activity, like participate of a play on the theater, if you like. This is a gap between your lectures. A space to you does something different. But a lot of people like to travel or stay at home without doing anything. Here you will see all these ways to make a good "gap".
Southampton University has a lot of extra activities and has the SUSU (Southampton University Students’ Union). The Union of the students makes a proclamation during the year ad offer some extra activities. You can enjoy the Societies. There are a lot of groups that you can enjoy. But these groups have a common interest. Then choose what do you like and enjoy one of them. The University of Southampton has 282 societies. You can find one of them that matches you. You can participate the sports too.
They are divided into 13 groups. Here I will present 3 societies from some groups.
Academic group
The Academic has 47 societies. Let’s talk about 2-3 of them. - Ancient History Society: You can enjoy it even if you aren’t from the course. You can participate in the parties themed old times, the night of mysteries and visiting the pubs. You can watch a lot of lectures; the Artificial Intelligence Society this group wants to create a space that people can learn more about artificial intelligence. They organize lectures with the people that are working in this industries and with the teams from the researches institutes. Hackathons and workshops; Bar Society are there to help you to improve your career in the legal profession and a guide for the future. They organize many activities that involve all the laws contents. They organized travels to the court in London.
Art, Music & Film
It has 11 societies and all of them are about the seven arts. Anime and manga society organizes several events that you can talk about it and watch a lot of animes. Glow makeup society is telling what is. People that have an interest in make-up can build their confidence, develop their beauty and socialize with the people that have the same task. They organize several events. Music Production & DJ Society, they offer opportunities to the member improve your professional art music career.
Culture & International has 42 societies.
Asian Cultura society is for the students that like the Asian Culture. A lot of students from other countries. East African Society, here you can have fun with the food, and celebrate the diversity. Africa and Caribbean Society, the students from this society organize several events where you can know the culture from Africa.
Enterprise and Business have 11 societies. Bright Futures, you can improve you Carrer on the ever-competitive career -laded. Fish and toast is the Southampton Entrepreneurship and Business society. They aim to promote and encourage entrepreneurs sheet to promote their business.
Faith group,
They have 12 societies. Catholic society is a vibrant society that invests in making you feel at home. Christian society, a community where you can share Jesus Love. Humanist students society Southampton, their vision is to see a thriving humanist community in the University.
Food and drink
They have 6 societies. Baking society, games, and social activities are delivered during their meets along with tasting all the baking goodness.
Campus collective is the society for the person who loves plants, food, and the environment. Cocktail society is for the people who want to try new things.
You can find much more societies you can access the website to find that one good for you. Others groups are General interests with 7 societies, media with 4 societies, Medical societies with 54 societies, Performing arts with 41 societies, Politics with 8 societies, Social Awareness, Campaigns & Fundraising with 38 societies and technologies, and Games with 4 societies.
Sports
If you like sports you can enjoy some of them is in the University of Southampton. They have 90 sports that you can participate in. From martial to water sports or extreme sports to team sports and more. You have many alternatives.
Events
You can watch some events too. During the year the SUSU. Like during the production of the text it had a virtual escape game a virtual summer activity and a London tour in the world of Harry Potter.

Volunteer
You can take your gap year to make volunteer works. Take care of children from an Ophanate, help people to clean the parks, help students from middle school. Innumerous Works to do. Take a gap is not always mandatory travel for a beautiful place or stay at home doing nothing. During the summer you can call your friends and go camping. If your gap is short you can talk with your friends to take a day for activities. You can make a program with games, music, drinks, and food. You can call them to help you to cook. Make a different recipe. You have several options. This period of time you can do what you want. It is your time to make the things you like. Think about yourself.
